Tobacco. Alcohol. Drugs. Dangerous traps that can ruin your life and deny your freedom. So how can you free yourself, and help free others? Here are some important points to remember:
  • Know the cold hard facts. Understand what tobacco, drugs, and alcohol can do to you. Be able to communicate this to others.
  • Envision your future. Encourage others to do the same. There’s no limit to what you can achieve when you’re free.
  • Be uplifting to yourself, and others. Don’t beat yourself up if you’re going through hard times. Don’t look down on others who may have made mistakes. Freedom is something everyone should enjoy.

If you’re trying to help someone become free from tobacco, alcohol, or drugs, there are some definite things NOT to do. If you really want to make a difference in someone’s life, try and avoid the following:
  • Telling them what to do
  • Delivering ultimatums
  • Fighting
  • Being a NAG
  • Pointing out failures

Hey, nobody’s perfect. But with the right attitude and the right help, everyone can be free.
